Our Small Contribution to Help the Planet
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, signed in 2015 by 193 UN member countries, highlights that the energy sector is responsible for 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions. It also raises awareness that one in five people lacks access to electricity and three billion people rely on wood, coal, or animal dung for heating. For this reason, the UN, through its 2030 Agenda, has set important goals for the entire planet:
- Ensure access by 2030 to affordable, reliable, and modern energy services;
- Significantly increase the share of renewable energy in the total energy consumption by 2030;
- Double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency by 2030;
- Enhance international cooperation by 2030 to facilitate access to research and clean energy technologies, and promote investments in energy infrastructure and clean energy technologies;
- Develop infrastructure and improve technologies by 2030 to provide modern and sustainable energy services.
How Is Sustainable Energy Produced?
To produce sustainable energy, renewable sources alone are not enough. Energy must come from processes that minimize environmental pollution during its production.
Renewable energy resources are essential for sustainable energy because they do not involve polluting combustion.
The main renewable energy sources are:
- Solar radiation, which generates solar energy;
- The potential energy of water at a certain height, which generates hydroelectric energy;
- Wind, which generates wind energy;
- The movement of waves, which generates marine or ocean energy;
- The biodegradable fraction of products and waste;
- The Earth’s heat, which generates geothermal energy.
Flexpack’s Contribution
Flexpack has decided to contribute to a greener world by using electricity from renewable sources, whose generation does not produce CO2 or other greenhouse gases. The process of energy production, distribution, and consumption can be designed in a sustainable way to ensure development that does not compromise the needs and opportunities of future generations.
