VCI Packaging Systems – Anticorrosion Protection

The VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) packaging systems offer a modern and reliable solution to protect metal products from corrosion, replacing traditional oiling and greasing methods, which are often impractical and polluting. Thanks to VCI systems, it is possible to achieve clean, anticorrosive packaging by wrapping products in VCI sheets, paper bags, or plastic films, ready to use without the need for additional cleaning.

The Flex-Pack VCI heat-shrink polyethylene system is ideal for engines, machinery, and metal products, available in rolls, bags, and large sacks, ensuring ease of use, safety, and complete protection against corrosion.

How VCI Works – Invisible Anti-Corrosion Protection

The VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) systems protect metals by creating an invisible barrier against corrosion. Inside sealed packaging, VCI particles disperse into the air and settle on metal surfaces, forming an invisible protective film that blocks the action of moisture, oxygen, and other corrosive agents.

This technology allows engines, machinery, and metal components to be packaged with complete safety: upon opening the package, the VCI volatilizes without leaving any residue, ensuring clean, ready-to-use surfaces.

The Stages of VCI Action – Complete Metal Protection

Flex-Pack VCI films and bags protect metals through three fundamental stages:

Sublimation: VCI molecules transition from a solid to a gaseous state, releasing from the protective material.

Diffusion: VCI vapors spread throughout the packaging, achieving a uniform equilibrium in the enclosed air.

Absorption: VCI molecules deposit on metal surfaces, forming an invisible microcrystalline film. In the presence of moisture, the film develops strong ionic activity, effectively inhibiting corrosion.

Flex-Pack VCI anticorrosion products, also available in custom solutions, ensure maximum strength and protection against oxidation and corrosion during the storage and transport of ferrous, non-ferrous, and composite metals.

Main applications: machinery, metal products, defense/military sector, engines, and automotive spare parts.
